It seems that winter came a little early this year, as well as the snow.. For the next six months or so, icy roads and snow days are in the forecast. Here are five of the best ways to keep you warm over the next few months!
1. Warm tasty drinks
Since Fall is over, so is the whole “pumpkin spice” everything phase. We are moving on to bigger and sweeter things. Christmas-inspired everything. The number of fancy drinks available would make Santa and even Buddy the Elf sick. If you want to stay warm on a budget, stick to good old Candy Cane Hot Chocolate from Tim’s. It’s classic, cheap and tasty. If you want to get a little more fancy check out Starbucks and try their Peppermint Mocha or Chestnut Praline Latte.
2. Christmas shopping
The malls tend to keep their heat cranked around this time of year, seeing as it seems to be colder than the North Pole out there. Heading out to the mall with a friend can get you out of the house for a while. Going out to the mall will give you a chance to stretch your legs and get some Christmas shopping done. Maybe you can even grab a photo with Santa while shopping and sipping on that nice warm drink.
3. Beanies
Not only are beanies a great winter accessory but they also do keep you nice and toasty. There are so many different styles and colours of beanies to choose from that there is something for everyone. If you have a case of he winter blues, sleep in a little later and use your beanie as an excuse to cover up a bad hair day, (we’ve all done it, no judgment here.)
4. Cuddling and Netflix
These two go hand-in-hand but I’m not talking about grabbing your boyfriend or girlfriend and isolating from the world for the next few months. Who cares if you’re single, get into a relationship with a fabulous TV show. Cuddle up with your cat and a nice warm candy cane hot chocolate (number one on the stay warm list) and make yourself a pillow fort, don’t leave for a day or two. If you are hoping to get a little festive, Netflix already has a whole bunch of holiday flicks, just for you!
5. Alcohol
This time of year can be stressful for everybody. Money is tight, there seems to be some sort of holiday event every time you turn around and your entire family is coming to stay with you for a week over the Christmas break…(Cut to scene from Christmas Vacation) Sit down, breathe and have a drink or two. Rum and eggnog seem to be a classic this time of year or if you’re staying up for some late-night gift wrapping put some Bailey’s in your coffee.
